How to use the countdown timer

  1. Name your event. Type what you are counting down to — a final exam, graduation day, a holiday, a flight.
  2. Pick the date and time. Use the date-time picker; the countdown uses your device's local time zone.
  3. Tap Add countdown. Your countdown appears below and starts ticking live in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Add as many as you like — the nearest event sorts first.
  4. In a hurry? Use a preset. One tap adds Exam in 7 days, End of semester, or New Year.
  5. Share it or clear it. Copy link on any card to share the live countdown with anyone; Delete removes it. When the moment arrives, the card flips to a Reached state and counts up.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a countdown to an exam?

Enter a name such as Final exam, pick the date and time, then tap Add countdown. The timer starts ticking right away in days, hours, minutes, and seconds, and your countdown is saved in this browser so it is still here next visit.

How many days until my event?

The large number on each countdown card is the exact number of full days remaining, with the hours, minutes, and seconds underneath. The line below the digits also summarizes it, for example 12 days, 3 hours to go.

Can I track more than one countdown at a time?

Yes. Add as many countdowns as you like — an exam, graduation, a holiday, a vacation — and each gets its own card. They all tick from a single efficient one-second timer, and the cards sort themselves with the nearest event first.

Can I share a countdown with someone?

Yes. Tap Copy link on any card to get a shareable link that encodes the event name and exact date and time. Anyone who opens it sees the same live countdown — handy for counting down to graduation with classmates or a trip with friends.

Does the countdown still work if I close the tab?

Yes. Your countdowns are stored in your browser's localStorage, and each one targets an exact date and time. Reopen the page and every countdown shows the correct remaining time instantly — nothing needs to keep running in the background.

What happens when a countdown reaches zero?

The card flips to a Reached state and starts counting up instead, showing how long ago the moment passed — for example, Reached 2 hours ago. Delete it whenever you are done with it.

What time zone does the countdown timer use?

Your device's local time zone. The date and time you pick are interpreted in your local time, and shared links carry the exact moment in time, so they stay correct for anyone who opens them.

Is there a countdown to New Year or Christmas preset?

Yes. One-tap presets add Exam in 7 days, End of semester, and New Year. For Christmas or any other date, create a custom countdown with a name and the date — it takes a few seconds.

Is this countdown timer online and free?

Yes. It is a free online countdown timer with no signup, no account, and no paywall. It works on phones, tablets, and desktops, and the timer pauses automatically when the tab is hidden to save battery.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Countdowns are saved only in your own browser's localStorage, and nothing you enter is sent to a server or any third party.
